TOCKA | 2022
A selection of photographs and a 10-minute interview
This project is a multimedia and multi-sensory experiential exhibition about the interface of the Russian language within the socio-political context of the current war between Putin and Ukraine. It is a community-based project, with lots and lots of input from a diverse range of different Russian speakers, speaking about their relationship to the language, the culture, and the aftermath of that relationship in the face of a gruesome war.
It is positioned as a sort of funeral, in the sense that it is an experience where people of one community come together to celebrate, commiserate, mourn and to look into the future. The project is inherently going to age strangely, as it is capturing the moods of people who have had to watch this unfold, so it acts almost as a time capsule for 2022.
